Default XP owners! Is an oil change easy on them?

Hey XP owners. I was curious to know if the new XPs have the same kind of setup that you have to pinch the tube and prime the oil system like the present 500? I find it annoying and am curious.

No,both the 550 and 850 you just drain the pan and refill..also everything is easily accessable.... access hole for the drain plug and filter in the skid/frame underneath..a socket style filter wrench is a good investment and will make filter removal...access is really designed for a socket style filter wrench..
I'm very impressed with they way they made maintenance items so easily accessable..even the clutch cover bolts have access holes cut where needed to make them easier to get out..
A couple of the A-arm zirks are a little tricky to get the grease gun onto..but over all everything is very accessable...

The pinch the oil line garbage is one of my few gripes with the Polaris. I'm glad they've done away with it.

HO... isn't the XP a "wet clutch"... changing the oil also changes the trani fluid?

They probably went through everything for that price, Tanny fluid, front and rear diffs as well, but still thats pricey.

I never did the pinch the oil line thing, I just drained the oil tank then ran the motor for few seconds to get the remaining cup of oil out of the crank case pumped out and into the oil tank as well.

The XP is not CVT Belt drive? Its a manual with wet clutches?

OK... next question... what are your thoughts on protecting that oil filter. It is in a nice place for maintenance, but a "dangerous" place for riding. LOL

Any plans on how to protect it? With my luck, first time out I would find a limb on a downed tree that would go right through that sucker? LOL

I would look on my ticket and see if they done a complete change of everything, diffs, tranny, engine and greased it for that price... Heck if I was close I would have done it for that...
