2000 honda 300 ex chain adjust
#2
Haven't owned a 300 in a decade, but I think it is just like the 400 and 450.....
Honda uses an excentric bearing carrier, that you rotate to adjust the chain.
There will be 4 (?) bolts at the back of the swingarm, that hold the carrier tight. Simply loosen them, and then rotate the collar that is at the left next to the sprocket, and it will tighten or loosen the chan. A nice big C-wrentch intended for adjusting shocks works really well on the collar.
You don't have an owner's manual do you??? I also bet you have never adjusted your valves either (????).

Take a 6mm allen wrench and as you sit on the floor behind the ATV, loosen the two allen heads on the back of the axle. Then take the same wrench and fit it into one of the slots on the left side of the axle and rotate the axle ring by pushing or pulling on the wrench. If it doesn't move, spray some WD40 along the seam. You want more slop in the chain than you think. I believe it's 1 1/2". This is because the swing arm pivots in a different spot than the drive sprocket. So, if you were to bottom out the back shock, you wouldn't want the chain to be so tight at that point that it would break.
