OK after having lots of fun on my Raptor 700R I decided to clean it for the first time.
but I read on some sites that I have to cover the Exhaust and the Air Filter.

About the filter, is it where located under the seat?

this one?


if yes, then the total holes I only cover are TWO (Exhaust and Air Filter), correct?

 

yes , this is the filter . walmart bag , etc,, put seat back on & wash , dont always have to cover if its running .. nice bike

You don't have to cover the exhaust if its running, but I would never wash an ATV while its running. Shove a sock in the tailpipe and in that airbox snorkel and give it a good hose down. Never spray the engine down while it is hot, always let it cool off some or at the minimum avoid directly spraying the hot motor with cold water when washing. Once it is cooled off its fine to hit it straight on, though. There is an off chance of causing problems with the head when spraying a hot head down with cold water.

I just came back, and the ATV is FULL of mud [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]

so I want to wash it again, but better to let the engine cool down (2 - 3 hours).

question is..

is it OK to leave the mud dry on the ATV?

will the mud leave marks on the body or something?

no it wont it will just be a little bit harder to get off will have to wash more is all

You can wash the ATV when the motor is still warm, just avoid directly spraying the engine with the cold water, trust me, you would rather do that to at least get the big stuff rather than let it all dry on, and then let it cool off and give it a good cleaning later.

 

Just make sure if you do wash it while off that the bags are tight
