Default Fuel line boils

I have an 08 Polaris Sportsman 800 with about 500 miles. I was riding the other days with friends in the snow and noticed the fuel vent line under the steering colum was boiling. I opened the gas cap and vented the line and it stopped letting air and gas out. The gas line is clear and about 3/16" of an inch, comes from under the gas tank then goes up to the headlight pod and then in is routed to the steering colum. I have noticed that gasoline dripps and little from the lower portion of the steering colum on 4 x 4 axle in the front. How can I get it to stop leaking gas? Do I need to drill a hole in the gas cap and put a hose so it can vent propertly without leaking gas. I also was wondering if the EFI gas system has to be pressurized to work properly.

How do you mean pressurized? The tank has no pressure. The vent line in on the very top of the tank so adding a hose in the cap will do nothing. What is happening i think is that the gas is getting warm from the motor, and when the fuel splashes around the fuel gets to the vent and the gas that gets warm pushes the gas out the vent tube. I have never had that problem, but I would imagine it could happen.

My 07 has always done that when the tank is full.

Are you sure it is not just venting as the fuel heats up? not boiling. As gas warms up it expands and need a place to go if the fuel tank is around full.

they all vent a little but he is right as thier should be no pressure in the tank when the cover comes off or the vent line is plugged or pinched.

I checked under my headlight pod this evening and noticed the gas line has a "T" in the line and two separate check valves. The one on the right allows air to be sucked in the valve and back to the tank. The check valve on the left only breaths out and not allowing air back in. This check valve on the left allows air and gas to be forced out the check valve and goes into the gas line which was routed down the center steering column. Is this normal when the engine gets hot and gas comes out the gas line on the left. I'll try and upload pictures is someone can explain how to send pics that would be great too.

personaly i would take the check valves out. just have one long hose running into the steering stem. if its looped over and pointing down then water will have a hard time getting in the tank. plus you will always know there is nothing that can go wrong in that line.
