2002 Sportsman 700 gear shifter hard
#1
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.
On my Sportsman 700, I find moving the shifter hard to go into park without rocking the quad back and forth. It seems to be ok in all other selections like going from neutral to reverse or L or H....
Was this normal for this model/year?

Is gear selector lockout spring hooked up to foot brake and trans? Is spring stretched, not pulling Park/High lockout shaft far enough on transmission to allow easy shifting into park and high?

The spring was replaced last year and it seems to work as it is supposed to. I will look into that again though.
Other than replacing the spring is there an adjustment I can make to make it work any better?
What other things could be the problem?

if detent shaft pulling down all the way, then can possibly loosen locknuts on linkage rod and adjust a little forward and back to see if shifts into park better. If all fails, could be internal problem with detent pawl or lockout disc. (behind front small plate where shift belcrank is)
