I know the 300ex and 250x share many parts because I've had a 250x motor 300 head.. etc.. But.. my question is.. I never really tore into the bottom end to see if there is that much of a difference.. I'm looking to switch out the half of the case from a 300 to a 250x.. I've got a junk 300 bottom just laying around with a good left case on it. I know the 250 crank has extra splines on it to allow for the kickstarter, but I've also put a 250x crank in a 300. So, the gears are churning in my head that this should work. Honda shows different part numbers, but doesn't always mean it can't be interchangeable with something else. Also as far as gears.. They should be the same, correct me if i'm wrong and please let me know. Thanks guys.

I broke a 300ex case half and was told a 250x case would NOT work for me. I know this is not the answer you wanted.
