Anyone out there had there 550 topped out yet? I have a 500 HO now it will do 58- 60 if the 550 broke 60 i would get it instead of the 850.

 

you must have a fast 500, mine would only do 53. i havent topped my 550 out yet still trying to get the break in done. i will let you know. i doubt it will go much faster than your 500.

 

I have had my 550 up to 57 so far. It was still climbing but was not broke in yet so i let up on it. Now that it is broke in (to much snow to do a top speed run now) im sure it will do 60.

 

Im going by the speedo maybe on gps it only dose 53 never checked?

 

I had a 2002 500 and it would do 60 on the speedo also..

 

The older 500ho s were faster than the 06 and up models.i know alot of them that used to run 60 but i have never seen a 06 or newer do it.I heard the newer ones were geared lower because they came with 26 inch tires.The 550 will hit 60 easy.

 

I raced my buddy on his 02 500 against my 08 500 and he won every time , I would average around 55mph he would average around 60 mph based on the speedo . He just loved it that his old 02 would go by my new 08 .

Next time tell him you want a fuel sample to test for Nitro.... or to come see you in six years after your 08 is broken in also.....lol

I got 3000 miles on my 08 it should be broken in [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

You must of had a slow 500, I ride with a 500 Foreman that can do 50 MPH and I fly passed him on long staight gravel roads. 55+ is the norm.

I have no doubt the 550 will do 60.

The 550 is just 49cc larger and still is a SOHC, with the same 42mm EFI and weighs more than a H.O and has to turn larger 26" tires ,I doubt it will be a great leap ahead in performance or speed.
