I do not know the exact number for an Outlander but when I measure the output voltage at the battery with the engine idling I get something around 14volts. I would assume it should be similar for yours. Check with a voltmeter at the battery.
If your voltage is good check to make sure all the connections are clean at the battery. If the problem continues remove the battery and charge it with a 2 amp trickle change for about 12hours. Check the voltage across the terminals. DO not put it back in the machine but wait about 12 hours and let it sit. Check its voltage again. If your readings are too far apart then the battery has a bad cell and will not hold a charge.
Last time I had this problem my battery would have 12.8 volts after a 12 hour 2 amp trickle charge. 3 hours later it had less than 10 volts in the battery and it was just sitting there not connected to anything! Paid $45 to replace and problem went away.
Hope this helps SJ
