I bought a mudbuster cam for my rincon. anybody have good mechanical knowledge who could offer their opinions or tips or know of anybody whose got one on their utility atv? have not installed it yet, and im hopeing it doesent negatively effect the reliability of it. hotcams claims it doesent. guess i will find out

I don't have one myself, but they seem to have a good reputation. I responded to your PM with a link to an article on how to install a cam in a Rincon.
What kind of use are you intending for the quad?

thanks for the response. ill check it out tonight. i mostly trail ride, not much of a "mudder". im out of work for a week or so from an appendix operation which is giving me free time on the computer to reseach this. i went to rincon rider.com and read alot of posts that was discourageing. seems alot of guys have a hard time getting the programmers set right and see little or no gains of power and loss of top end with the cam. theres talk too of bad looking plugs in the process. the last thing i want is little results and possibly engine damage. i just assumed the pipe, filter, programmer, and cam would bring well worth results. now im not so sure.

Personally, I'm pretty satisfied with the 680's engine performance stock. I figured I'd rather use the money I could have spent for fuel to go riding, and I wanted to retain stock reliability.
To each his own, though.

yep, its going back. too many guys on rincon rider say it kills the top end and low rpm gains arent spectacular. alot of those guys mud ride mostly and its beneficial there but not for top end. one guy put it well...if you want a 60 or 70 hp machine, buy one that has it stock.you still have warranty and manufacturers reliability,(although that varies make to make)

Yeah, when you start doing internal engine mods, I think you lower the resale value. People wonder if the person who did the work knew what they were doing, and/or question the reliability of the engine.

Give hotcams a call, 3and4 wheel action did a cool hop up on a rincon 680 awhile back, they used a hot cam stage one, and a hmf pipe and scilecer with a programer. I guess the gains were substatial, he also had bigger, but not huge, tires and wheels. As far as durability goes just remeber its a honda, they are bulletproof, and a stage one cam should icrease power accross the board.
