A person would want to take the cylinder and piston to a machine shop and let them measure it. If it isn't worn beyond limits, a hone can be run through the cylinder, and the piston and cylinder can be reused with new rings.

If the cylinder is beyond limits for taper, out of round, or diameter, it will need to be rebored to fit a larger piston. In either case you would need the appropriate gasket set.

If you don't have a service manual, get one. If you haven't done this kind of project before, it would be a good idea to invite an experienced buddy over.

if it is a 2 or 4 stroke you will need all gaskets to repalce the old ones. you will also need to have the cylinder bored for a bigger piston
or just deglazed or honed you can do this or take it to a motor shop. as far as tools basic tools are needed along with a good to to torque
wrench a repair manual always helps for all the specs.most pistons just is that piston- rings and wrist pin...gaskets are extra
what ever help that is
