04.5 sports engine smokes on and off

Default 04.5 sports engine smokes on and off

my sportsman i have seen it smoke and then it seems to stop next thing you know its smokeing agine could this be the valve seals ,i have never seen any do this but who know on a polaris,most valve seals leak when the engine is stop and when restarted it smokes mine smokes on and off while running

what color is the smoke? Different color smoke indicates different color problems. Example would be white smoke indicates water in the chamber, blue smoke is oil, black smoke means it is getting to much fuel.

its blue smoke and i have noticed that it keeps on smokeing and smokes alot more if i speed the engine up and down,I talk to a polaris service guy he sayed it was the valves seals leaking when i rev. the engine up and then let off the vacume was pulling oil pass the seals can i put compressed air in the plug hole and change the seal i have done it in car and truck

valve seals usually smoke at start up more then they ever do while running unless they were really bad.wonder how the rings are. still have all its power? keep an eye on the oil level. imo

yes still has lots power starts and runs fine if i let it set and run at one speed it wont smoke also when rideing if i try not to let the engine brake work dont smoke if i use the engine brake smokes the more i use it the worse it smokes

it dont really use that much but it smokes bad if i use the engine brake

I am having the same smoking problem as you have described. Did you ever find out what was causing the smoking issue.

yes had to install new wiseco piston and bored it the oil ring was wore slap out but it ran like new with new piston runs just like it did but no smoke
