Default Sportsman 335 blew up

Just wondering if anyone has any idea if I would be able to do an engine swap with a 330 magnum or something of the sort without having to change all the wiring and everything else. Any help would be appreciated.

does look like the wires are interchangable on the harness. so if it were possiable, looks like alot of jerry rigging. imo.

Why not rebuild it? RCR knows these engines. Give Rick a call.

Just find out what motor the 335 is based on and it should be a straigh forward swap.

For example the 425,455 and 500 Fuji motors are the exact same dry sump motors externally, they just have a different bore and stroke, but will swap with each other easily.

I was going to have it rebuilt, but the dealership told me that they didnt even finish going through it, but they were already up to $4500 to repair it. They said they cant buy a complete motor, they have to buy it piece by piece. Thought I might as well buy a new sportsman. Cant afford a new one at the moment so I thought I would try a swap. Any idea where I can find out what the 335 is based on to see what will match up.

335 is similar in function to the 425 and 500 and "probably" could install one in its place with maybe a little fudging on front motor mount and the top, depending on height, hopefully the two rear mounts would line up,plus the oil lines should fit the tank,BUT unless you are able to get a good running 425 or 500,then your in the same boat! I encounter this almost weekly. Its like a used car with expensive problems, not worth anything as is,BUT can cost more than its worth repairing! I've got an old explorer 500 thats ready to pick up because customer doesnt want to repair! He will probably part it out on E-BAY! I know its a tough decision to make sometimes, but sometimes easier to sell or part out than repair as many have done! I've see entire parts enough to almost rebuild a machine from the same customer many times on E-bay or Craigslist. Just one of the things you can do UNLESS you are able to do most of the work yourself! Best of luck on whatever you do! OPT
