Default 2004.5 500 HO rear bearing direction question

I'm knee deep in a rear wheel bearing job as we speak, and I'm ready to heat the bearing housing. My question is this: is there a front and back to the bearing? I bought an All ***** set, and I notice that on one edge of the race there is a small groove around the perimeter, on the lip. Or, does it not matter. Can't find info anywhere...

Many thanks in advance.

not sure, but is it where a seal or dust cover goes? becafeful heating up the alum housing. on my 06' there were 3 knotches where you would evenly take a punch and drive out the bearing i think as it ws a few years ago. becareful not to stave up the seating area w/ he punch while your taking the old bearing out. a pres is the best to use if you have one. imo.

thanks from one mainer to another. one side done, took me quite a while, but got into bushings as well. the second side should go quicker, minus taking off the rear caliper.
