I've got a low mile 97 500 I use mainly for yard work, so this morning I was pushing some gravel off my landscape trailer when she died. I could see raw fuel dripping from the base of the carb, so I pulled the seat & air filter cover off only to find that the air box was 1/3 full of raw fuel!

Any thoughts / ideas???

 

Sounds like your floats in the carb could be stuck. When mine was dripping fuel, I pulled the carb and cleaned out the float bowl good. It was good as new after that. Just be careful not to bust the boot that is between the carb and the intake. It will be very brittle.
