Default EFI Sportsman Runs than quits

I am writing this message for a friend of mine who has an EFI sportsman 500. The problem is that it runs great for about 20 mins and then dies, and we cannot get it restarted. After it sits for a few hours it will do the same thing. We have taken it to the dealer and they say the problem had been corrected by resetting the computer; the problem still occurs. This problem started after a heavy session of puddle bashing last summer and the problem still exists. I have heard that the throttle tension can be a problem and cause this and I have not checked this yet. I have promised my buddy that we will look at it tommorow. Any suggestions on what might be causing this. Also it does not appear to be overheating. Any other questions let me know.

when it shuts down, and you retry to start it does the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key on?

Check the Barometric Pressure Sensor Wires. They are known to be too short and break. Polaris makes a pigtail replacement bracket.

Make sure all electrical connections are clean and dry. Take seat/ plastic off, disconnect battery and all electrical plugs and dry with hair dryer. Make sure all contacts clean, seal plugs with waterproof grease / tape, if using machine in water.

Check air filter / box for water, and fuel filter too.

I had the same problem with my 500 when i forst bought it. For me it was the throttle cable. I would try tightining it up first. Thats what my problem was.

Default 500 EFI Sportsman

I have the same problem but the fuel pump does not start when I turn the key on. Is there something I can check before I replace the fuel pump in (&)the tank? Is there a fuse?
It ran great, never exposed to moisture (southern AZ).
I am lost on this.
Thanks
