Default 06 Sportsman 500 WOnt start?

Hi everyone, I have been a member for a while but I cant figure out my old Username and password and the captcha thing was not working to retrive it. Sorry but this is not my 1st post here...

The battery on my 06 sportsman 500 Died and i didnt think it was a big deal since i had no plans to ride it during the winter. So now that its coming on summer and i will be headed out of town often i went and bought a replacement battery at the dealer, I installed it, and put the key in and NOOOOTHING! I cannot hear the EFI prime or anything!

any ideas? I dont have a clue when it comes to ATVs. I do not mind taking it to the dealer but its kinda hard to get a none running quad on my trailer.....

battery in backwards? did you clean the terminals on the cables? did you charge the battery before you put it on? just a few thoughts

battery is in correctly, I made sure of that. I doubt I would have posted here if i made that mistake

I did not clean the terminals, they were clean, however I will just to make sure.

the battery has 12.8 volts according to my voltmeter...

I called the dealership for some guidance and they told me it could be the controler *they had an acronym for it, which I dont recall* its the quads computer that holds the fuse for the EFI?

anyway where is that? i guess i will just have to drag it on to my trailer and take it in i guess..

was it PCM? power control module.

there is a known problem with these things but i havent heard of any problems on the 06's and up....your dealer can do a vin search for you to see if its under a recall. i know the others have a recall for them. caper has had 3 or 4 of them.

actually its the ECM that is known for having issues. if the battery is not dead(100% charged) and hopefully you fully charged it correctly to make sure it will last before use, then start tracing power up thur to see if bad or loose connections and no corrison any where. maybe put some di-eletric grease on connections to keep them clean. there is a fuseable link in the line that could have tripped as well. imo
