2004 Polaris sportsman Axle trouble

It was hard taking the old axle out so is there an easy way to put the new axle in? The snap ring on the splines is what im having trouble with where it goes in the hub. Do you have to beat it to get it started?

shouldnt have to but it is wise to put some never seize on the spline so the next time its not a PITA to get it back off..and yes there will eventually be a next time
