Default front hub bearing torque

service manual says to preload at 160-170 inch pound then back off and set to 108-144 while turning all wheels in gear, did that but seem rather tight. anyone have experience on this one to give me some insite? oh yeah 99 xplorer 400 4x4.

Yep that is right. I have 2000 Xplorer 250 with, I am guessing, the same hub assembly. Remember those numbers are in "inch pounds"......works out to about 12 ft pounds, which isn't really that much. Any tighter will cause binding with the 4 wheel drive.
