550 Grizzly issue... ??
#1
Hoping someone may be able to help me. i have a new 2009 Grizzly 550 FI. it was running fine and now it seems to choke a bit from a dead stop when you hit the gas. It sounds like it's missing. It hiccups and then takes off. Any ideas before it take it back to the dealer? anyone else have or heard of this problem?

Run premium gas and go the website that tells how to properly break in a new motor and try that before you take it back. My 700 did a bit of that the first time or two that I took it out and now that it has broken in, (300 miles or so) it runs great. Has alot more power than it had when new, I'm guessing about 15-20% more. Somewhere on this site there is a link to the page about how to properly break in an engine. I believe it is spot on.

If you have E-10 gasoline where you live, make sure that you use a stabilizer in it because the gas will start breaking down in two weeks after you buy it. By breaking down I mean that the ethanol will seperate from the gasoline and you will be picking up straight ethanol causing it to skip and backfire.

i purposely put 91 octane with NO ethanol in the ATV. I don't think its the gas. I think it has to do with idle or the EFI settings. i have never had an issue with yamaha FI but this really ****es me off. I hope it goes away.
