Default oil drain plug&milky oil

Hi Hope someone can help. I have a 1995 350 wolverine with very little use, almost like new. ( never been off my property, hauls in some firewood every fall and a few laps around the field) One of the first times I went to change the oil I used a standard socked and started to round off the corners of the drain bolt. I switched to a metric , but it was slipping to. So for many years I have been siphoning the oil from the fill hole to change it. The other day I siphoned out the old oil and tried to "flush" it with some unlabeled oil I had around for years that I thought was 10w 30. Several slow laps around a 3 acre field the when I went to siphon the oil it was like creme with a tiny bit of coffee. Today I tried to flush it with some new 10 w 30 and several laps around the field and the oil is coming out like of colored creme again. Tried to remove the drainplug with ( yes i will admit it) vise grips. Now the drain plug is really distorted. any advice on removing the drain plug or why the oil is milky would be appreciated. ( or advice on where to get advice.)

That old Yamaha drain plug has buggered quite a few of us on the forums, Warriors, Wolverines,Big Bears, etc, all share the same crappy drain plug.Mine rounded off after a couple of bad slips with a wrench, I ended up lifting mine up,and taking a chisle to the edge of it to work it loose. The new plug the dealer gave me looks beefier, with better grip area. Just be sure to put anti sieze on the threads when you put it back. Now for the oil, I don't know what you put in there, milky color usually means water, maybe you had a lot of moisture from all the time you have been syphoning, water is heavier, and will sink to the bottom of the engine, thats why the plug is so low, to get all the crud out of the bottom. It is possible the oil you used reacted somehow with the old oil, or moisture or what have you, can't say for sure without knowing exactly what you dumped in there.Best I can recommend, get that drain loose, then finger tighten it back up, dump a few quarts of kerosene in, slosh it around by shaking the quad (for God's sake, DON'T start it with any kind of solvent in the crankcase!!) then drain it, let it drip dry, get your new plug, fill with good oil, warm it up, drain it again, and see how it looks.

yea milky oil is usually from moisture/water built up over time, must be some old filthy gunk in the bottom and made some of its way back up top, theres a few little cleaners you can use to flush the crankcase of all its gunk, some you just let sit, some you can actually run it for a bit, i know seaform works great and im pretty sure you could ride it after dumping some in the crankcase then just drain it all out after riding and use new stuff, as for the drain plug they can be a pain, i usually use a big pair of vise grips, adjustable wrench or something if i use a socket i make sure i use a 6 point socket, 12 point sockets will strip those crappy drain plugs out real fast.

Thanks Wolv and Warrior. I was reluctant to try the chisel so posted my problem on other websites and went to my local dealer hoping to find a easier solution. The dealer Was no help at all. Your answers were the best and the chisel worked great $13.00 for new plug with a better design and it looks like I am ready to go. Varsol rinse, flush with new oil and it all looks good. Thanks guys I have been living with this for years.
