02 sportsman 700 head lite problem.
#1
My o2 sportsman 700 low beams both blew during a hard ride.
what can the cause of this be on of the lamps are brand new and was installed corectly. i did buy the lite mod off ebay so i can run all 3 lites at once by installing a jump wire , no switch problems.
these bulbs are $25 each in my opinion very expensive. is there a cheaper replacement i went to a couple of autoparts stores and could not match the plastic size and plug size. please help

the bulbs are 7yrs old. if you havent had no issues before. and being as old as they are and if you ride hard. there gona burn out. lightbulbs dont like shock and vibration. there is only a thin wire in there. id say just buy new bulbs.

I seem to remember a thread a while back that said the three light mods off ebay use a cheap diode so that may be your problem. I think I still have the wiring diaghram laying around from my 02 700 to use a relay instead of the diode.

it wouldnt be a diode. all a diode dose it let power one way and not the other. if the diode was cheap it either wouldnt work, or the diode would burn up.
green wire goes from the switch to a acc light splice box the splits and goes to the L and R low beam. the high beam wire is yellow and goes from the switch to the headlight pod high beam. the diode is spliced between the green and yellow wire. so when the high beam is on it feeds power to the high beam yellow wire and the diode then feeds the green wire. its not the diode ill bet money on that. if the high beam didnt go out when the low beams did. ill bet it was just the bulbs.
