Default 2000 honda 450 foreman S question???

just picked this quad up and it is mint, only thing wrong with it is I can't get the neutral light to come on, so therefore I can't start the quad, guy said he researched the problem and claimed it was the angle sensor, does this make sense? if the sensor is indeed the problem would it prevent me from shifting gears? I also found out there is a neutral safety sensor, would this be the problem?

the story is the guy was plowing snow and the quad got stuck in 5th gear and he shut it down and just parked it for a few years

any help would be appreciated guys

First off, a quad that has sat for years will hardly be "mint". At the very least you should empty the fuel tank and replace the stale old fuel, and change the oil before you ever attempt to start it. Plus, be sure the air filter is in good shape. Carb will probably be all crudded up due to the fuel that dried up inside it, so expect problems there (it may not want to idle properly).

We constantly have posts in here from folks with ES system problems, so you are not alone! Angle sensors get frequently mentioned. There should be a backup manual shift lever in the tool kit. Maybe you can use it to get into neutral and start it?

You say you can't get the neutral light to come on ..?.. Does that mean you have the bike in neutral ..? .. If the bike is in neutral and there is no neutral light I would first check/test the gear position switch , the angle sensor has nothing to do with neutral or the neutral light .. If the bike is in gear and you don't have the emergency shifter you can use a 12mm wrench ..
