I got a new Foreman 450S yesterday and really like it and everything good I read about it on the forums before I bought it are true, just wondering if anyone else has noticed a bit of a ticking during warm up that goes away just above idle and completely when warmed up, I think it's probably a valve adjustment or maybe because it has no hours on it yet.

 

I've got a 2001 Foreman 400 and I too have noticed a ticking. I haven't checked it out too close though, but it sounds like it might be coming from the bottom end. Seems like I saw another post or two about the same thing. That's all I know. But if you find anything out, I'd appreciate if you'd let the rest of us know!! Right now, I just get on the thing and have fun. I will keep a close ear on it though while it's still under warranty!!

 

the 450 is a pushrod engine and it is noisy...it is inherent with this type of power plant in the air cooled variety.......(listen to a harley)I have a 99 450 and it is also a very mechanical sounding power plant and it is more pronounced when it is cold.I would venture to say that all the honda push rod engines are a bit noisy.....ive been on a rubicon and although quieter than the 450 still had the mechanical sound of a small pushrod engine.

 

A very wise choice. My 98 has better then 14000 miles on it, and after just returning from a little peel in Arizona where it accumulated another 400+ miles my problems have amounted to two left rear wheel bearings, one left front wheel bearing, ring gear and pinion, after 12500 miles and hauling lots of weight(extended warentee covered all that)so that little click in the motor shouldn't worry that much.

plunker--- My 2K 450_S has that noise too. I have come to accept it as a NORMAL sound. It does seem to be worse when engine is cold. Mine IS getting quieter as the hrs. accumulate(65 on mine). Not to worry. Maintenance it when scheduled and ride it like it wasn't yours!!!

 

Thanks Guys for your replies, I didn't think it was anything to worry about just wanted to make sure Happy Quading, I think the 450 Foreman is a great Quad for my riding needs.

 

Gidday from downunder, my y2k es450 was quiet when
brand new. Just starting to get a little noise, when I srtart it up. 12 months old 300 hours, 8000
klms. Overall a great atv.
