The question isn't how much power do you want, its how much do you want to SPEND!
Your EX can be made to run over a 400ex everywhere, you can just boost your power for trails.
You can get
High Compression piston
Web Cam
CDI Mods
For about 300. Then you will be putting out about 21HP, not much more top end or anything.
Same mods, but boring 2mm making it a true 300
you are at 24 HP
about 350
You can bore 6mm over and get a complete 330 kit for about
980. That was my total without a pipe.
The 330 puts out 35RWHP, Will beat a piped and ported EX in a drag, more than give a 440 a hard time, with a good rider.
You can go for about 1,200 and make it a 352cc stroker. That will be putting in the low 40HP.
I'm unsure of the cost of a 395 kit.
But mainly its just how much you want to spend...
