Default replacing starter on 90cc sunl

Hi-
I need to replace a starter on one of my 90cc Sunl's.
it's a top mount starter.
the end of a new starter has as sprocket that goes to the chain. however the previous owner left that sprocket from the starter on the engine.
Do I take the cap off the left side of the motor to get access to the starter sprocket and lower sprocket that i'm assuming is attached to the crank? Are there pieces that will fall out when I remove that cover?
How do I release tension on the chain to be able to remove the starter sprocket?

Thanks for any info.

Just take off the left side engine cover & the stator will come off with it & you will be able access to the chain & the sprockets. There is 2 small nylon black chain tensioners in there on both sides of the chain, remove them both & it will the loosen the chain to be able to fit around the new starter & then put the tensioners back in & put the cover back on.
