Cool GIO 200CC Gears wont enagage..

Hello there

First off if you have one of these GIO 200CC, the Mikuni carb is a wise upgrade..much smoother idle and seems to have more umph VERY happy with it!!!

The bad news is my son was out riding all afternoon and now it wont shift in to ANY gear. No major bumps or obstacles. Just poof no gears.

When you try to shift you hear the click but nothing engages its sits there in a neutral state.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

try holding it in gear. some of trannys have a spring that breaks and causes the type of prob. you have. just a shot in the dark. Seth 03

Was it in gear when it quit working?

Or in neutral and would never shift again?

Auto or manual clutch?

The shifter mechanism could have fallen off the shift drum..that is under the case on the right side of the engine (when siting on the quad)..Shift drum could be broken also...That can be checked with the case off also...

You might try what Seth 03 suggested and hold up on the shifter and see if it stays in gear..

Default still no go while holding it in gear

I will drain the oil and take off the right side [opposite side the shifter is on] casing and have a look. Is there a specific procedure that I need to follow while doing this?

Thanks for all the input and help!

Pretty simple to take off with no kick starter to deal with...pull the clutch cable off and take out all the case bolts...just so you know even with a draining, a little oil will be spilling out as you pull off the case..
