I need some primary and secondary clutch help!
#1
I bought a new primary clutch but it was an upgrade to my old one for a 2000 magnum 500 with engine break. It was a 1322555 clutch with engine break for an 06 800 sportsman, which other people on here have done. Buttttt I have some problems.
1. My primary needs to be shimmed tighter because the clutch is slapping into the belt. How do I do this and do I need specials tools?
2. The belt is riding way high in my old secondary clutch. Every thing in the secondary was taken apart and new parts added. It is the same belt I used with my old primary clutch. Just a new belt # ends in 077 which is same dimensions as belt ending in o69. I did not see how the old belt was running because it was wore so bad. What can I do to lower the belt in the clutch? I can see cogg spacing if I look at it from the side (its that high). Everything is aligned. The new primary has same center to center distance to secondary.

That 077 belt is not for EBS, the 069 is, although its for the old style ebs with the grooved spool in the center. An 095 would be better for your application. There are other but I do not recall the #s

Thats what my dealer gave me, but my clutch doesn't have grooves either. Same exact dimensions as 069. What is the difference with the belt you suggested? I don't understand why mine is riding so high in my secondary.

I ended up putting some some washers under my primary bolt to shim my primary tighter to the belt, so that problem is fixed. The center pulley on my new primary is 1/2" less in diameter than my old one with grooves so that is why it is why my belt is riding high in my secondary. So much for a direct replacement. But, I don't know what belt is going to work so I'm goiing to post a new topic and see if somebody knows.
