Default DS650 help...

My 650 will sometimes start sputtering when coming off idle. It will idle fine, but trying to gas it , it will start sputtering, even in neutral(wont rev at at). Sometimes it will be fine for an hour of riding and then start this with no advance symptoms. Sometimes it will do it cold sitting in the garage. I tried a different cdi, that didnt help. Do you think it maybe the carb?

Is there a rev limiter on these anywhere?(other than top end) I had an old Wolverine that with the parking brake on it had a limiter just off idle, it wouldn't let you rev the motor anymore than idle. That switch had shorted and caused a big time prob to figure out.(Wont forget that one)

Any help is appreaciated before I start throwing cash at this.

I would clean the carb out very well, Try to run it with the gas cap off and see what happens.

also test your battery, even if it is a new battery test it. Mine had all kinds of funny things wrong with it on a weak battery. And that was the factory battery only a few months old.

I'll try that and get back with you. It might be a few days, it seems to be working in the garage. I need to take it out this weekend.

Had the same kind of thing going on my 00 DS a few months back and come to find out it was a wire coming out of the bottom of my stator and was getting pinched. I pulled a little slack in the wire and re-zip tied the whole run.

Wouldn't hurt to get some SeaFoam and run it through the tank.

Just follow the instructions on the can.
