I'm looking at purchasing a a 1986 200x that is in near mint condition. This thing looks like its never been rode. What do you think something like this is worth. The guy wants 800 for it, is that reasonable or not? Also how easy are these to ride i'm more familiar with utility quads but grew up on a 125 yamaha two stroke three wheeler. I realize it has a full manual but i was looking for something with one so that is dandy with me.

 

Around where I live a near mint 200x for 800 would be a steal. As far as riding just flow your weight into it and remember never put your feet down. If you've ridden on 3 before it'll all come back after a few laps.

 

hey thanks for the reply. Where are you from? I have also wondered if these are a little more balanced than the yamaha 125 was. the front on that turd was extremely light, i've heard that honda put the motor forward a little more to help offset this, is that true?

 

I live in S.E. Louisiana. The only Yamaha I have ever rode was a Tri-z so I wouldn't know about that model, don't know about the motor placement either. I do know that the 200x was built for fast woods sport riding, there is a huge difference in the ride of the sport models ( 200x, 350x, 250r ) verses the regular hunting type. You won't be dissapointed with a good running 200x it's not the fastest but sure is fun to ride.

 

800 sounds reasonable to me as well if it's in the condition you describe.

As far as being more ballanced than the old YT125 you had,...it will be. Much so.
A bit of old school news here,...Honda had a patent on the engine location in the three wheeler design that called for the engine to be centered directly,..well,..in the center of the triangle formed by the three tires.
This is why you find the engines on other brands that were designed before 1983 having the engine waaaay rearward of the footpegs. The older TriMotos, a couple KLTs and the ALT125 and 185 from Suzuki were all built this way....and handled like $hi+.
