Default Brand new 400ex trouble

Hi, I just bought a brand new '07 TRX400ex, I guess Honda still has 'em leftover in some warehouse or something. But anyway I bought it through a dealer, took it home and it fired right up. I know new machines need to be broken in real good so I haven't been gettin' on it bad or nothing, I haven't even opened up the throttle all the way yet. It was running real good the first day, and the first half of the second day..

Then all the sudden it didn't wanna start up too easily, the only way I could even get it to start was to fully choke it (and this is if the engine is hot or cold.) IF I could get it to start, it was hard to keep it running. Sometimes giving it gas helped, sometimes it made it die. Taking off the choke or taking it down half way just caused it to die. Shifting into gear caused it to die. But if I COULD manage to shift it into gear, and THEN take the choke fully off, it would stay running for a bit and let me ride. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes only 30 seconds.

Oh, and what gear I was in didn't seem to matter either. I plan on calling the dealership to ask for help, and taking it there if I need to. Its still under warranty obviously, I've only had it for 3 days now. But can anyone help give me some advice, opinions...???

Please and Thank You

Perhaps a similar issue: http://forums.atvconnection.com/hond...as-valves.html

The choke thing suggests that you are running lean, or have a leak in the air intake.

If its a brand new 2007, and this is 2009, the bike has been sitting well over a year, possibly 2 years. I'd say the gas it was shipped with went to varnish, the new gas you put in started to break it down into pieces and its plugged up your carb.

Take it back to the dealer, have them remove the tank and thoroughly clean the tank, shut off valve, fuel hose and clean the carb. Just as well to put in a new spark plug too.

They shouldnt charge you for this on a brand new bike.
