Default ds650 Carb Problems?

Hello Everyone

I just bought a 2000 ds 650 which needs some work, but it was running fine after a new battery. However after going for as little 1hr ride the quad would die if I hit the throttle. After about an hr of letting it idle and trying to rev it i heard a loud snap from the card now it won't start at all

any help or suggestions would be awesome thnx guys!!!

when you say card are you refering to the cdi box, you can find one on ebay cheap, stay away from the procom boxes a bad cdi will cause the battery to fail. try finding a ron woods box or a biggun box

Just picking up a 2000 I would start with a valve adjustment/check. If your timing is out of whack all of the carb adjustment in the world will be all for naught.
Let us know what you find, we're here to help.

I recently picked up a older DS650 as well, it ran ok for a bit, but then when you hit the throttle it would bog and die almost immediately, it would idle ok. I took the carb off and it was very dirty inside, there was a piece of debris stock in the main jet, cleaned it out as well as everything else within the carb and she runs perfectly fine now. It certainly would not hurt to disassemble the carb and give it a thorough cleaning. It also wouldnt hurt to also do a valve adjustment at the same time.

While you two are getting familiar with your carbs you might as well go ahead and read up on the OMR stock carb mods. Very easy to do and you WILL NOT be disappointed.

Study up on the tank vent tube whiile your doing your research. Don't want something so simple causing such headaches.

LOL, funny you should mention that....I already ordered a Dynojet kit(should be here tomorrow) and have the carb apart as I type this to drill the slide.
