I know, Manual....I have one coming. All I have right now is the owners manual, not enough info.

Thank You

For no more than it uses, I just went ahead and bought the Polaris bottle. I'm sure there's alternatives out there, but the savings really isn't that much, and I don't have the worry in the back of my mind of "what if I was wrong".

Looking at this diagram, it's part #41.

This is from a 99 model, for some reason they didn't show the 98. But it should still be the same.

I use Shell synthetic snowmobile chain case fluid. Just because I had it and the internals parts of my sled's chain case are the same as the Polaris tranny. The chain case fliud bottle does not state its weight anywhere on the bottle though.

I could see that as a viable alternative.

I guess location has a lot to do with choices. Not too many snowmobiles down here in Dallas.

Default Tranny

I agree with Scooter. Although it would be nice if Popo offered bulk containers of fluids, especially differential lube, at a somewhat reduced rate. Either way you still don't save much, if any, using other brands. It's probably more of a preference. One of the other benefits of buying your oil and such from the dealer is it gives you some face time with them as a return customer and may help you down the road, especially if you need some tech advice(if you have a good dealer).

Is #41 where you check trans fluid level? If so, you don't add there do you?

DO I fill the tranny fluid where the dipstick is?

Also, what is the best way to flush out old old tranny fluid after draining?
