Default DEAD '07 Sportsman ----HELP!! (please)

Hello folks,
I bought this bike new in '07 (it's a 500 EFI) and it's just been SUPER dependable until recently.A couple months ago it wouldn't crank--just 'clicked' the solenoid.I put it on a trickle charger for a couple hours and it was fine for months then did it again.I charged the battery again and figured I'd have to replace it soon.Yesterday I pulled a small trailer to the barn and when I was ready to leave it wouldn't start---no crank,no solenoid 'click' --NOTHING.I checked the battery voltage and it was 12.8 VDC....I put a charger on it anyway and got the battery voltage to 13.6.Still nothing....the fuel pump will run when the key is on but sounds "different". I did jump the solenoid and the starter motor will crank.
Also, there is no display on the speedomoter except that it will occasionally flash.
I have some serious health issues and I REALLY depend on this bike....any and all help greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Dana in Montana

Replace the battery. It sounds like there is a dead cell in the battery. Just because it shows 12.8 volts does not mean it can carry the load of starting the ATV (Cranking Amps).

Also clean the terminals very well to make sure the connections are clean.

I had that same prob on my 850xp. It turned out to be a loose wire. Make sure all your bat. connections are tight and clean however it could be a loose ground some where else in the system.

Take the battery cables off of the selenoid and check the nuts under them to see if they are tight and clean, there are fuses under the front rack-storage box, may have blown the main.
