Need info on spacing the sheaves on the secondary clutch

Need info on spacing the sheaves on the secondary clutch
When you put spacers in the secondary clutch to spread it out more and allow the belt to ride lower, are they just steel spacers and large enough to go over the secondary hub? Will this wear on the clutch hub?
