Default Rincon top speed advice? please

Hi there I have a 07 rincon and was reading some of the posts with people saying their rincons do approx 63-65mph from the factory:

Was there a break in phase on the motor to reach this speed? i just bought me rincon with 140miles on it, it only reaches 43mph before it sounds like the motor is governing out and will go no faster.
i placed a k & n airfilter in it..this did not help reach i higher speed, i currentely have 26 inch mudlites on it which shouldnt make that much of a difference.
does any body have any advice/info?
i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Jim

I wouldn't do a top speed run until the thing is broken in.

Mine will hit around 62 with stock tires, on a flat and hard surface. It takes a long time to reach that speed, and clearly the engine is redlined.

Bigger mudlites will indeed reduce top speed quite a bit.

Personally I'm not a big fan of gauze type filters on machines operated in dusty environments.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

get rid of the k&n filter if you like your quad, they let too much dirt through!!!

I think I'd refrain from top speed runs until after the 20 hour break in service is done.

Also, if the oil level isn't totally full, it can sometimes cause transmission slippage.

To get an accurate level you need to let the machine idle for about 5 minutes w/no throttle, then let it sit 2 or 3 minutes. You want the level right at the top mark or even a shade over (w/o screwing the dipstick in).

Top speed is also found on flat surfaces or a slight downgrade. Also use a GPS to check your top speed. Stock speedo's are only so accurate, when you went to a bigger tire you also made your speedo read slower then you actually are.
