Default LT80 case oil

What kind of oil do you guys put in the rear crankcase. I'm rebuilding my sons quad and noticed a bolt on top of the case and said "that looks like oil should go in there". Looked it up on the micro finch and thats what it is. So is it Hypo or regular old 10w-40. Also what is the rear greese zert on the case for. Thanx

I believe that the manual calls for 10w-40 for the case. There's a drain bolt on the bottom, a fill bolt on the top and a level bolt on the side. You fill it until it weeps out the side bolt. If I recall, it's just a little less than 3oz of oil to fill it up. The fill hole is maddeningly tiny, I didn't have a pump type oil can the last time I did mine, so I used a funnel and a tiny plastic tube... it was a 2 beer job just filling it up.

The grease zerk on the rear is for the axle bearings. There are also grease fittings on the front end as well.
