Better Battery
#1
does anyone know if a company makes a battery that will fit in the stock battery box of a 2003 SP500 HO that is rated higher than 14am/h? i would prefer an AGM type battery. I occasionally run a sprayer off my atv and it puts a hurting on my interstate batteries cyclotron 14am/h.

The Odyssey Battery. Deep cycle (high amperage for starting) AND deep discharge (large capacity that can be discharged without damage). Very long shelf life, and very low self-discharge rate.
You will need to measure your current battery and battery box, and compare the dimensions to the Odyssey battery.

You have to modify the battery cadles lenght from 5.3" to over 6" to get a higher AH rating, The widith and Height should be OK.
Westco makes a 6.9" long, 3.5" wide and 6.1 high battery rated at 18AH and 300 CCA for example.

If you're going to go to all that work to modify the battery cage, I'd suggest either putting in the Odyssey or YUASA 30AH battery (which is used on the military Sportsmans). You might even check with Polaris and see if they sell some kit that converts the standard SP battery cage to the military specs, then use the upgraded battery.
