Default 2003 honda 300ex question

My son bought a 2003 300ex and took it out for the first time this weekend.
The problem is his brother and sister are still riding 80's so we are doing alot of putting.
He is complaining that when he tries to get on it in the straightaways it wants to bog down.
Can i rejet the carb to eliminate this problem?(i believe is is a stock jet)
When we go without the little ones he doesnt complain and says it runs fine.
So do i rejet,or sell the boy and get one that doesnt complain as much?
Thanks for the help and any ideas would be appreciated.

trade him in for a newer more appreciative model.

On the other hand your carburetor may need cleaning, since it is stock, I would doubt that it needs to be rejetted, unless someone has been fiddling with the carb.

Aftermarket items like exhaust & air filters will require a slight jet change.

Hand the boy some tools and a can of carb spray and say"if you don't like the way it runs, DO something about it !!"
But seriously, I agree with Mr Junkie, the 300ex has an excellent carb, yours probably needs a little cleaning.

Default beating little kids with big sticks

Thanks gentlemen.
I will make him go get a big stick from the tree out front so i can beat him with it.
I can remember my dad making us do this.
Anyway i will pull the carb check the jet and clean it up and see if that helps.
One more ? what size is the stock jet?
Many thanks.

Problem is, if this is the FIRST time riding it, you don't know if this is a problem that developed over time (like a dirty air filter, carb, or stale gas) or if it is a chronic problem like bad jetting from the previous owner.

I would begin with a fresh clean air filter, completely fresh gas in the tank (take the tank off and empty and flush it), and then clean the carb...and I don't mean just spray some cleaner around, actually clean the jets (jets are cheap, so just replace them!).
