question anyone, I just bought 2009 polaris 550 xp, only 70 kms on it and I am experiencing knocking in drive train, on forward and reverse acceleration not constant noise, only on take off. Took it to the dealer they tell me it normal but i am not impressed with the noise. Any advise or similar stories.

 

Check your engine mounts.

 

mine does it also, it the stall in the cvt. When you give it gas it spins then engages at a bit to high rpm and clunk/bangs into gear. Put a clutch kit on it that might help it. I don't see it being a problem, most of the issue's/growing pains you hear about are with the 850, don't be worried you bought an awesome machine!

 

Gets better as you get about 400 km (240 mi). Ease off on throttle about 2300 rpm as clutch is engaging. You'll develope a starting technique, but it is annoying & rough at first.
