wheel spacers....what gives?

i dont understand the purpose of wheel spacers....can someone please give me advatages or disadvatages of them!?....thanks

Wheel spacers are a cheap way to get a wider, more stable stance for your quad.

Plus: added stability
minus': Stress on the spindles

Does it hurt the quad in anyway?.....wheels? suspension? a-arms

From all the posts I have read, they can add stress to some parts if you ride super hard or jump super high. Most that "have" them and trail ride say all is fine and stability/cornering is much improved. The most negative things I have heard are exactly that, people that "heard" they are bad because of added leverage on certain components. I ususally go by experience and not "rumors". Rumors only take one opinion to get started.
