My 05 500HO was pre-wired, but I can't say for sure if your 09 is. I think all the full size Sportsman's are though. What kind of winch are you thinking of?? I loved the warn on my HO, not so much the Polaris winch on my XP.

A HUGE congrats on the new 500 purchase!! (I just did the same thing)

Can't help ya on the pre-wiring BUT I did buy a Polaris Warn 3000lb winch and the dealer is installing it today. If I think of it I will ask them if it was pre-wired when I go later to pick it up.

Again congrats!!!

Yes they are all pre wired, there is a small metal shield up under the right front fender, and the wiring is right up there too with a rubber cover that says winch wiring right on it, and then you also need to connect the wire that is under the left rear fender to the posotive battery terminal, and then you'll be good to go

the wires are under the right side fender behind the front wheel behind the steel plate. the contractor gets mounted to that plate. and as stated above you will need to attach the positive from the winch cable to the battery. it had red heat shrink on it. or in my case it wasnt long enough so i wired it to the battery side of the solinoid. the winch side of the cabe says: winch wireing. there are also igntion sorace for the red wire that comes from the handel bar switch. ill also add my pics of when i installed mine last yr. mine is a 08 500 sportsman.

do not connect anything to the red circle. or white wires.
your ign wires are circled in white. the wire colors are orn and orn/white. there 2 wires per plug.
