Polaris trailerable cover--BAD!
#1
Hiya folks,
I purchased a cover for my 850 XP not so much for trailering but as a cover as I have to leave the bike outdoors. My first trip towing with the cover on, it shredded at one of the zippered openings. The shop I bought it from indicated Polaris was unwilling to warranty it but they replaced it on their dime. The second cover arrived and now they have a velcro cover to keep the zippers from coming loose....great...maybe this one will work. Now, the second trip with this think on, and it's torn again. This time, the seam just over the back right corner of the bike came loose. Is this typical for their covers or have I just gotten two lemons? I'm pursuing a warranty with Polaris themselves as I don't want to beat the dealer up again but I'll prolly end up having to sew it up myself....and include some reinforcement in there.
Cheers,
cc

Trailerable covers...I don't have much experience with atv covers, besides having seen several on the highway, flopping around, slapping in the wind...shredded! My bud has tried several makes including "polaris" for his 500, NONE have held up.
I do have experience in boat covers, my expereince...store bought, off the shelf covers are junk, been there, done that! I got sick of the junk covers on the market and went to a canvas shop that specializes in trailerable covers...5 years later and this cover still looks BRAND new, fits like a glove, easy on/off, water tight. Absolutely pleased!
Same bud that was having issues, brought his ATV down, left it with the canvas shop...a week later it was finished, sweet cover made out of "top gun" material, same as my boat cover. His also fits like a glove, water tight, no flop in the wind, it's tight, snug and works as intended. His cover is formed nicely, fits all the nooks and cranies, straps in all the right places to hold it snug.
They are a little more money, but...you get what you pay for! You can buy a off the shelf cover once every couple years$$$$$...or....have one custom made, it'll last a long time. In the long run the custom cover will cost you less money and fit better.
We both used "canvas craft" in Rogers, MN. They do great work!!

I have one and the only issue with it was from hauling the wheeler backwards in my truck. Messed up the zipper on the flap for getting to the gas tank. Brought it in to a local upholstery shop and they stitched the flap shut and no issues since. I'm sure they are made in China like everything else these days so it could be a hit-or-miss problem.
