Battery charger/maintainer question

Default Battery charger/maintainer question

I went out today to start the old atv and no juice. I run a schumacher 1.5a maintainer on my battery and it has a switch on the front for 6 volt and 12 volt some how it got switched over to the 6 volt charge side. My question is will this mess up the battery. I've been running the maintainer for several months with no problems but as of today this battery is DEAD. Don't know how long its been set on 6 volt but I know its been hooked up sence the last time I rode and thats been at least a month and a half.

i know on my full size schumacher charger when its on 6v it wont send any current to a 12v battery, verified with multimeter... What probably happened was the charger isnt charging but being still connected the circuitry(while not charging) will actually suck the battery down slowly... this is the case with most chargers be it car chargers or a nimh AA charger you plug in the wall. leave your AA batteries in a charger that isnt plugged in and they'l be dead when you go to use them... same with my lithium battery charger... just part of the game
