Well hello all, don't know if this is a problem or not but my Sportsman 800 sounds rattely at idle. Seems to run fine and can't hear it when accelerating. Just wondering if anyone else hears this.

 

2007 800, also rattley at idle. Was concerned at first but from what i've read and others I've heard just assuming it's normal. Mine is coming from right side.

 

check your heat shields for being loose. they sometimes will cause the noise on the right side for sure.

 

07 800 here, and I have heard that since day one. Not only the heat shield rattle (which I fixed with a little modification) but what sounds like an engine rattle. The dealer where I bought it, who is also my friend, and knows better than to try to BS me says that it is quite common and nothing to worry about. Still running strong.

 

if you guys do a search on hear you will find a few post on the silent transmision chain rubbing on the drain plug w a pic i pisted as well. it might just be part of the noise your hearing as well.
