2007 polaris sportsman 500 EFI idle problem
#1
Sometimes my Polaris 2007 500 sportsman EFI won't idle and stalls and other times it stays rev-ed up. Machine has only 200 miles on it. I suspect the idle control motor, but not sure. I have checked for bad wires and pulled all the wire connector's apart to make sure there was no issues there. Can anyone else with this kind of machine tell me if these noises are normal when you turn the ignition key on without starting the engine. My son seems to think that it never made these types of noises before but that is something that I never paid much attention to when it was running good.
Turn ignition key on without starting engine you hear the electric fuel pump start up. (humming noise) and then another noise that the idle control motor makes. (Sounds like a whining noise)
When you turn the ignition key off you a whining noise followed by a very fast clattering noise and then a whining noise.
Are the noises normal? I have tested the 6 terminals on the idle control motor with an ohms meter and they are normal, but that does not always mean that it is working correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
