My stock rear drive chain is due for replacement. The Polaris chain runs $1 a pin and I need 84. Lets see, thats $84 plus $5 for master link plus tax for a chain that does not last too good in the first place. Also, it is made in JAPAN!! to no ones surprise. Has anyone used a different brand of chain and how did it last? Thanks.

I use a motorcycle chain with a psi rating of 8000 lbs. The Polaris chains are 3000 psi. I think it is a Keihin (sp), but I ain't sure. It may be a Regina. You just need to make sure that the chain links are the same size. Any reputable cycle shop (read: not your POLARIS Dealer!!) should be able to help you. It may cost you $100 - 125 for the chain but it is 3x stronger than the junk that Polaris peddles.

Well, I wish I would have known there was another chain I could have bought. The 2000 Xplorer has concentric drive and the chain is always suppose to be a little tight. After a year now I noticed a link about to bust. I bought a supposedly new and improved version of the chain, plus link for $67.00 total. Im not sure what the changes are but I definitely rather have the 8000lb rating!

I bought a DID Gold chain. It has roughly 50 hours on it, and hasn't stretched a bit. It was about $55.

I think the chains are rated in tensile strength, not PSI. But I could be wrong.
