Default 96 xplorer 300 starts, then quits

I have a 96 xplorer 300 that I brought back from the dead. Ran great right away, now when it starts I'm getting dirty exhaust and it will run for a while then die. I have checked compression and also rebuilt the carb. Now it won't start at all. Rechecked compression and have good spark. Made sure carb was set to factory specs. Any ideas?

Compression is 115. Put in a new plug and also cleaned the exhaust.

It seems like I am not getting gas to the motor. I checked fuel lines and filter and am getting gas to the carb. Also checked the carb and the float bowl had fuel. Seems like enough vacuum. I'm stuck!!! Would appreciate any other ideas.

I also pulled the new plug after a few cranks and it seems to have a white vapor substance on it. Didn't look normal to me but not sure. Please help!!!

If its been sitting around for a long time with old fuel in it, the carby will need to be thoroughly cleaned with a good cleaner. They can get a glaze on them that can cause similar problems. Otherwise check that the air mixture screw is adjusted correctly
