I got a 03 sportman 500 that is stuck in awd I picked it up from a "buddy" I got it this way I tried replacing the switch at the throttle and still nothing any help would be helpful thanks

 

wonder if the amature plates in the hubs are messing up and staying magintised not letting it go out of awd. imo

replaced them and no go still stuck in awd

 

Ok I know it is electrical but not sure where to start I pulled the 2pt connections apart and no longer in awd but when I replug it is still in awd and help out there

 

Is it govenoring is reverse??? Put it in reverse and and give it some throttle ... not sure what speed it should gov. at, but if it doesn't then your override switch is probably stuck on. There is a spring inside the override switch that can come out of place and cause the switch to stay engaged.

 

It does stop at a certain speed in reverse then I hit the button and it goes faster with the plug connected I will try it with out and see what happens I broke down and bought the repair manual see some of the people I talked to said they think it is a wire touching
