Default 2001 Big Bear transmission

ok guys i had a 99 wolverine man i miss it. lost it to a barn fire. i have recently bout a 01 big bear for $1500. runs great but something isnt right. i'm guessing it real low geared cause it seems to top out very easy. when i start it i have to pull in the clutch even when in neutral. also it goes into reverse with out turning the **** on the handle bars. and the neutrallight doesnt come on even when in neutral but flashes when it goes from 1st to reverse. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks mike

Big bears have no manual clutch thats a hand brake it has to be held in on start up. Big Bears top out at 40-45 mph and scream while doing it , you will be up shifting for that 6th gear that will never come, its normal.

Yes you will miss your Wolverine, you days of 50-55 mph are gone with the BB.

Default Big Bear

I've got both of these quads...different years...95 wolverine...08 Big Bear...the volverine will do better in fourth gear than the big bear will with all five. As far as your nuetral issue...check the back right side of your motor and see what is going on...the control on HB pulls a cable that moves lever to allow reverse...if this is always engaged you will shift down from first and into reverse without getting to nuetral...only know this b/c in cold weather sometimes my wolverine know wants to stick and have to move it manually...good luck with it...if you can't get to nuetral brake rear brake will always have to be engaged to start
