Default polaris sportsman 450 not shifting properly

I have a 06 450 that didnt seem like it was changing from higher rpms to lower rpms, I smelled the belt smoking and eventually would barley go. I assumed it was the belt so I replaced that, now it goes but still doesnt seem like its working correctly. any help? thank you

welcome to the forum. doe the bike really seem to bog when you take off and have no power? does the belt sit a little above the secondary(transmission clutch) when at idle? you may ned to check the plastic buttons on the secondary clutch(the helxi rides onthem) for being worn out. if they are just replace and it might fix the issue. imo.
